Three Simple Ways to Motivate Yourself

Wednesday, March 12th, 2008

Here’s an article on how to overcome procrastination and motivate yourself to “get things done”.

I want to add that we live in a time where possibilities are overwhelming and a variety of environmental, technology and dietary factors make it difficult for many people to remain focused and as productive as they would like to be.

This article offers some simple suggestions, and to them I also add that you want to avoid certain foods - like caffeine and other stimulants that put your already overwhelmed nervous system into hyper drive.

If you feel overwhelmed, take a step back and look at the places where you can say “no”. Look at the not-so-critical things on your “to-do list”.

If you feel guilty when you say no, keep in mind the advice you receive every time you get on an airplane - put your air mask on first, then you’re better prepared to help others. If you haven’t taken care of yourself, but you’re still trying to give to others, this is what we call a recipe for disaster. It’s inevitable that you begin to resent those you take care of, when the truth is that you simply need to make yourself a priority. Nobody will do that for you - it’s something you must do, and it’s not only OK - it’s the right thing to do.

If you have a comment or way that you effectively motivate yourself, please share.
